PS4 Will Be Released In China

It has been confirmed Sony will release the PS4 in China. Sony is going to team up with OPCD Shanghai Oriental Pearl Cultural Development to distribute the console in China, not unlike how Microsoft is going to team up with Bes TV to launch the Xbox One in China this September. Sony hasn't said when the PS4 will release in China.

The Order 1886 Delayed Until 2015

PS4 exclusive, The Order 1886, was originally supposed to come out late this year but has been delayed until early 2015. On the bright side its not crazy long delay (like Watchdogs and Driveclub) and it will be getting a gameplay video at e3.

2015 is going to be a very exciting year for PS4 owners with games like The Order 1886 and Uncharted. What about this year though? Hopefully Sony has something up their sleeve at E3.

Sony's Response to NPD April Results

The PS4 was the top selling console and Infamous Second Son was the top selling next gen game in the US in April. This was Sony's response:

"The April NPD report confirmed that PlayStation 4 was the top selling next-gen console and remains the cumulative leader. In addition, inFamous: Second Son was the top-selling next-gen software title in April.

"Since PS4 launched last November, over 7 million consumers have enjoyed rich and immersive gameplay, powerful graphics, and deeply integrated social features that are only available on PlayStation. Demand for PS4 continues to outstrip supply and we are working incredibly hard to provide additional inventory.

We’d like to thank the PlayStation Nation for their amazing support and we’re looking forward to sharing exciting news at E3 next month."

NPD April Sales Figures: PS4 Outsells Xbox One in the US Agian

NPD sales figures for April are in. The PS4 outsold the Xbox One in Microsoft's home territory for the 4th straight month. The Xbox One only managed 115,000 sales this month in the US. Last month it sold over 300,000. Of course last month was when Titanfall released. Speaking of Tittanfall it was the best selling game in the US for the second straight month so its not all doom and gloom for Microsoft. The full results for hardware aren't in yet, so its unclear how much the PS4 sold in the US in April, but more than 115,000 obviously.

Nintendo Working on Wii U Successor

Nintendo has confirmed they a working on their next console. It shouldn't be too much of a surprise as they (and both Sony and Microsoft) start working on their next console not too long after they release a new console. This is not whatever they're doing in China and other "emerging markets" its their "real next gen" console I guess. Nintendo's next console won't be released until Wii U owners are "satisfied".

Microsoft Announces New $400 Xbox One Without Kinect

Microsoft has announced a Kinect-less Xbox One priced at $400. It will release June 9th. They will also release the Kinect 2.0 by itself this Fall.

Falcons Draft Grades

1st round (6th overall): Jake Matthews OT Texas A&M
Grade: A+

This was probably the safest pick in the entire draft. Matthews will be a big help towards fixing the Falcons offensive line. Expect him to protect Matt Ryan for years.

2nd round (37th overall): Ra'Shede Hageman DT Minnesota
Grade: A

This was a great pick. Atlanta needs help at defensive line. They got got a 1st round DT in the second round with this pick. Hageman should be a starter or at least be in the rotation.

3rd round (68th overall): Dezmen Southward FS Wisconsin
Grade C-

I don't think this was a very good pick. He is injury prone and isn't going to be a day one starter as he is a work in progress. I think the Falcons should have taken a TE here or even a different safety. On the bright side Southward is fast and has lots upside.

4th round (103 overall): Devonta Freeman RB FSU
Grade B+

Freeman is fast and has good pass catching skills. He will split carries with Steven Jackson and Jacquizz Rodgers. Eventually he could be the starter. I think this was a great pick.

4th round (139 overall): Prince Shembo OLB Notre Dame
Grade C+

Shembo will add much needed depth to the Falcons defense. He will also contribute on special teams. Shembo has off the field questions and like Southward he needs time to develop.

5th round (147th overall): Ricardo Allen CB Purdue
Grade C

Allen is undersized but very physical. He will compete for a backup spot and could play on special teams.

5th round (168th overall): Marquis Spruill ILB Syracuse
Grade C

Spruill probably isn't going to be a starter, but he has upside and has a good shot at making the team. He is very fast and hits hard. The Falcons traded their 6th round pick and a 7th round pick to move up and draft Spruill. This pick gets a C because they probably didn't need to trade up to draft him.

7th round (253 overall): Yawin Smallwood OLB Connecticut
Grade B

Great pick for the 7th round. Some analysts said he would be a 4-5th round pick. He will add depth to the Falcons and could play on special teams.

7th round (255th overall): Tyler Starr OLB South Dakota
Grade C

Nothing special about this pick but Starr will add depth to Atlanta's defense.

Overall grade (not an average): B-

The Falcons got a franchise OT, a solid pass rusher, a RB who could potentially start and added secondary and linebacker depth. Some of the picks were questionable. They did a good job of addressing their needs for the most part but I can't figure out why they didn't get a TE at some point. Overall a solid draft.

Nintendo Will Release a Ne Console in "Emerging Markets"

Nintendo has announced that they will release a new console of some sort (and possibly other new devices) in "emerging markets". The console will be specifically designed for these countries (China and possibly some other countries such as India and Brazil) so its very unlikely it will come out in the U.S, Europe, Japan etc. It will also have new games. Nintendo is targeting people with less game experience and lower incomes than people in developed countries. This console will not be a dumbed down Wii U it will be a brand new console with games specifically designed for these markets. Nintendo didn't say anything about the exact specifications of their new console but it will be cheaper and less powerful than Wii U.

Microsoft announced last week that the Xbox One will launch in China this September. They will team up with BesTV to distribute the console in China.

China has a huge video game market, the second largest in the world. Most of that is from PC and mobile games because video game consoles have been banned in China since 2000. Recently the ban has been lifted. Although there is a lot of potential in the Chinese game market they have some ridiculous censorship rules. Microsoft will likely have a hard time finding much success in China because of this. Nintendo however may find success in China because of their different approach. Making a console with games specifically for this market makes more sense. It seems as if Microsoft is just testing out this new market but Nintendo is serious about making an impact there. If Nintendo or Microsoft (or both) find success in China then don't be surprised if Sony hops on the China bandwagon too.
